Today my voice has a sound

Today my Voice Has Sound is a series in which the artist uses the most visceral forms to communicate her intimate experiences and those of people close to her. It includes works where suffering acquires varied nuances and is mainly represented as one of its most visually heartbreaking variants: the physical. It is thus that the human body, as reservoir of human experiences, be it physical or psychological, is a recurring theme in all the pieces, starting from the premise of blood in its real and symbolic dimension by means of the chromatic impact of color red.

Life and death, close enough to the author, are implied by the utilization of intense red by means of photographic images of her body covered in blood and of the liquid that cleanses and purifies it in a shower stall (video/installation Libation). She also reminds us of the power and fragility of the ceaseless blood circulation through our body in the installation Fluid. Dozens of communicating vessels spread and occupy the space, which makes us feel like some sort of invading microorganism.

As part of this series we find installation Anna, a piece that alludes to a friend’s fight against leukemia. The woman’s profile is represented against thousands of vials that contain artificial blood mixed with water. Such a device evokes the process of blood replacement suffered by the victim of disease in an attempt to restore her vital functions. At the same time, it constitutes a metaphor of the transit towards death, not as finality proper but yet as a new life experience.
