At only 35 years of age, Mabel Poblet has already participated in over 150 collective shows and has had over 20 solo exhibitions around the world.
Her work has been seen at the 2017 Venice Biennial and is part of the permanent collection of museums such as the Museum of Latin American Art in Laguna Beach California, the Contemporary Art Museum in Tampa Florida and the Gilbert Brownstone Foundation in Paris, France.
Mabel Poblet's work is in constant evolution, as it questions nowadays society. Her work is profoundly connected not only to her identity as a young Cuban woman, but to her life experiences and her relationship to community in general.
At first, Mabel Poblet's work is mostly appealing by its colour, size and boldness, but its real beauty lies beyond appearances. Each piece is executed carefully, with extreme attention to details in order to create a story that carries a true meaning.
Islas is the result of an inspiring time spent by the artist on the island of Paros and her desire to link two worlds, two islands, Cuba and Paros, seemingly so different but bonded by many common grounds.
